Grease Shield® systems keep drains grease-free at prestigious Best Western Orton Hall hotel.

Orton Hall is a beautiful country hotel on the outskirts of Peterborough. The 17th century manor house was once the home of the Marquesses of Huntly.
It has 73 bedrooms ranging from the single rooms in the Coach House, the modern executive rooms in the accommodation wings, many on the ground floor, to elegant staterooms in the main hall.
The Hotel is set in 20 acres of parkland and has been tastefully restored and boasts spacious, airy and quiet conference rooms all with natural daylight. Regarded as Peterborough’s leading wedding hotel, with civil ceremonies held in the Conservatory.
Being a property which was converted from a former country house into a Hotel it did not have such equipment as in-ground grease traps.
Keen to ensure environmental compliance and prevent drain blockages the Hotel’s owner reviewed options for ‘at-source’ grease removal systems thus avoiding the disruption and cost of fitting under-ground interceptors.
After researching the available options the hotels owners selected the Grease Shield® food and grease removal systems and installed two units at Orton Hall.
The systems were installed in 2008 and in that time units have demonstrated effective protection of the drainage system and environment.
Speaking in September 2010 the Hotel’s owner Martin Goodliffe comments:
“As a site that had been converted from a large private residence we had no built-in grease traps, the net result was our drains would block due a build up of grease. Having looked around we found a unit called “the grease shield” which seemed to meet our requirements, it proved relatively easy to install and maintain. We trialled one for 6 months and found the results to be excellent. We have now installed them across our group.”
