PROBLEM
Stoneleigh Deer Park is the site of the old Massey Ferguson Training Centre. Located just onsite Kenilworth the site is near to the Stoneleigh Show Ground the home of the Royal Agricultural Show.
Stoneleigh Deer Park was in need of modernisation and was purchased by developer Pettifer Group who planned a conversion into a high-tech office complex.
In conjunction with the development the sites sewage system was also in need of modernisation. It consisted of two traditional stone filter beds located on the perimeter of the site. The systems were designed to be pre 1950 and one of them had suffered a collapse.
The proposed flow rate of the new development was to be 4x the capacity of the existing sewage system. The developers Miller Construction contacted Watling Hope for a solution.
SOLUTION
Watling Hope carried out a full in-depth site assessment including assessing the feasibility to pump to the nearest sewer system.
Following the assessment is was deemed that the most cost-effective method of handling wastewater from site was to install a new HiPAF® sewage treatment plant on the site of the old stone filter beds.
Works were proposed to Miller Construction who instructed Watling Hope to proceed.
Watling Hope demolished the existing stone filter beds, removing any contaminated waste for disposal. A new modular HiPAF® sewage treatment plant was installed on the site of the existing system. The modular plant comprised of 1 No. central primary settlement chamber, 2 No. parallel Bio-zones and 1 No. final settlement chamber.
