Broadway Golf Club is located in the Cotswolds on top of the hill overlooking the countryside near the picturesque town of Broadway, Gloucestershire 

PROBLEM
The Club constructed a new clubhouse in 1999; their existing sewage system needed upgrading and modernising.   In association with their Construction & Project Management Consultants the Club asked Watling Hope for proposals to replace the system.

Watling Hope carried out a detailed assessment to identify the Club’s site-specific requirements, such as numbers of Members and Staff on site at peak times as well as the impact of their bar and restaurant usage in order to establish the correct size of sewage treatment plant.   Watling Hope also assessed whether a gravity or pumped connection to the public sewers would be viable; in this case it was not feasible.

The new plant needed to be low noise and low visual impact as the proposed new location for the plant was adjacent to the car parking and playing areas.  The plant also needed a fail-safe alarm to notify the club’s maintenance team if there were any problems.

Broadway Golf Club considered Watling Hope’s proposal and instructed the supply, installation and commissioning of a new Hi-PAF® sewage treatment plant.

SOLUTION
Watling Hope proposed a Hi-PAF® hi-performance submerged aeration filter packaged sewage treatment plant individually designed to meet the site-specific requirements.

Over the course of two weeks and in order to keep the site fully operational throughout the works Watling Hope’s installation team installed the new Hi-PAF® packaged sewage treatment plant and then demolished the old sewage system.  

All enabling groundwork’s were carried out with careful consideration to minimise disruption to Members and Staff.  The Hi-PAF® plant was commissioned by Watling Hope’s own M&E engineers.   Works were completed with no accidents and to the complete satisfaction of the client.

• Works screened off from guests during installation 
• Site operation unaffected throughout works 
• Odours and nuisance eliminated 
• Environment Agency final effluent samples complied with Consent standards
• A significant reduction in previous tankering costs
